Josh took an astrophotography class in the winter and knew that we wanted to try our hand at it. We took a look at the moon calendar and our schedule and found a day that worked out and made reservations to camp at Cherry Springs in PA. We needed the moon to be as close to a new moon as we could get so that there would be minimal light from the moon. Cherry Springs is the closest place to us on the dark sky map.
It was super cloudy ALL day. We were concerned that if they clouds stuck around when it got dark that we wouldn’t be able to see the stars. Thankfully after about an hour after it got dark the clouds broke! Seeing this many stars was absolutely breathtaking. It had been so hot and humid lately that we didn’t bother to check the weather, which was definitely a mistake. It was freezing at night. Other than that we had a great mini trip and definitely want to go back again soon!
Here are some photos and drone videos from our trip.
The views were amazing. Just look at this video Josh shot with his drone of the fog rolling through the hills of Pennsylvania!
